American Freedom Essay

The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America in the Bill of Rights gives people the freedom of speech. The Bill of Rights lists the first ten amendments. Since the Constitution is the law of the land, Americans enjoy the freedom of speech. This means they have the right to say what they want to say without the feat of being punished. People can even disagree with the government without being punished. In some countries in the Middle East, people don't have the freedom of speech. They cannot protest without getting into trouble.

An example in current events was about a man who made a movie about the prophet Mohammed, which insulted the Muslims. Many Muslims in other countries around the world got very angry and caused riots. The man who made the movie was not punished because he lives in America and is protected by the freedom of speech.

I am proud to be born an American and to be living in America. Freedom of speech makes our lives better by letting us say what is on our minds without being punished.
